The Hidden City
The Hidden City workshop with Christina Kubisch is based on the research into soundwaves that we normally cannot perceive with our ears: electromagnetic waves, underwater sounds, radio waves and others. Another point of interest of this workshop is the comparison between these hidden sounds and our real soundscapes. The workshop aims to explore and record these hidden signals in the city of Amsterdam and transform and transcribe them into a work which will be discussed and eventually presented at the end of the process. The result of the research could be a composition, performance, text or something else. But what is most important about the workshop, Kubisch emphasises, is the experience of the participants and their discussions. By using technology, we comment on technology.
This workshop is a co-production of Sonic Acts & Paradiso and part of Re-Imagine Europe, co-funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.
To apply for the workshop, please send your motivation and CV to workshop[at]sonicacts[dot]com. Participants pay a contribution of €75 for the workshop led by Christina Kubisch. The deadline for applications is 1 February.
