System I

System I is a piece for two cellos, room, microphones, loudspeakers and subwoofers. System I interrogates the sonified complexities of acoustic phenomena within the resonant pathways of two cellos. By approaching the cellos as highly amplified sounding bodies, Caddy and Hamann apply alternative performance techniques to physically manipulate the sound propagation within both instruments. By then applying electroacoustic amplification to this resonance, over time, a number of different phenomena events are projected and interact within the performance space creating a physical listening experience for the audience.
