Photo impressions of Sonic Acts' 25th anniversary festival edition
Sonic Acts Festival 2019 has come to a close. Under the heading HEREAFTER, Sonic Acts aimed to explore the genesis of our current crisis – and what happens in the hereafter – by reflecting on the issues we are forced to confront on a daily basis: the inequalities caused by colonisation and geostrategic manoeuvring, the challenges brought forth by immigration and the climate crisis, the ever-present exploitation and precarity of the work force, and the way technological advancements disrupt and not emancipate – that is, the gooey mesh of global capitalism.
This year, Sonic Acts also celebrated its 25 year anniversary, seizing the opportunity to reflect on the changes in our cultural and artistic relationship with technology, through a three-day conference, films, exhibitions, installations, performances at club nights at Paradiso, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Vlaams Cultuurhuis de Brakke Grond, Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ and Arti et Amicitiae.
